After doing tests on the snake, Orochimaru concluded that there was no apparent hidden message, but suggested going to White Snake Sage who might know more. Carl Kimlinger from Anime News Network stated that Orochimaru’s influence over Sasuke kept the tension high, even when he had minor appearances.
He has been praised as one of the series’ premiere villains by reviewers for his lack of redeeming qualities and open malevolence. Among the Naruto reader base, Orochimaru has been a popular character, ranking within the top twenty in several polls. Numerous pieces of merchandise with Orochimaru’s likeness have been released, including action figures, posters, and plush dolls. This mirrors almost exactly how Itachi Uchiha using Totsuka Sword wielding Susanoo sealed Orochimaru, while in his Yamata form, and wielding the Kusanagi Sword kept inside of him. Having also assimilated the DNA of Sakon and Ukon to procure their abilities, Kabuto uses the twins’ Attack of the Twin Demons to produce a construct of Orochimaru that transforms into his White Snake form and lunges at an opponent.
He has, however, taken a more humane course in his experimentation since he became interested in Sasuke’s natural development after his battle with Itachi, and is now an occasional ally of the Leaf Village. Later, Mitsuki came to Orochimaru to discuss his recent memories about Ōnoki and how they began flashing through his mind as dreams. The Sannin scanned his son’s mind to research the memories with Log. There, they learned about how Mitsuki went through great personal discoveries about his being, wondering what choices are really his own and if he is on the right path. While Orochimaru was proud to see how much he was maturing into a true human being, he was concerned how the still-raw child was reacting to such personal loss. Log voiced his disapproval of erasing Mitsuki’s memories after how far they had come.
The Immortality Jutsu Orochimaru developed involves not extending his own body’s life but forcibly transferring his soul into other bodies and taking them over. The process involves him transforming into a giant white snake, his true form. Orochimaru’s mind remains intact while he switches bodies somewhat regularly. After he switches bodies, he uses a variety of techniques to maintain his original appearance on the surface.
During Sasuke’s later fight with Itachi, Sasuke is left too weak to continue suppressing Orochimaru’s soul, allowing Orochimaru to escape and try to take his body again. Due to their exemplary ninja abilities in the Second Great Ninja War against Hanzo. Many of Orochimaru’s abilities deal with snakes, which he summons to battle multiple opponents while simultaneously keeping himself out of harm’s way. Through his experiments, he has been able to add some snake-like characteristics to his own body.
